Gloucestershire make the trip to Derbyshire looking to continue the performance, if not the result, in the last game against Lancashire. Ed Middleton comes into the squad which theoretically has five spinners in there if you include Hammond, Price, Jack Taylor, GVB and the Devonian leg spinner. Joe Phillips misses out again despite an 85 ball hundred in the week for the Second Eleven. James Bracey made a brilliant hundred against Lancashire but will be looking for contributions from a top order that have suffered a drought. Spurs fan and Gloucestershire Head Coach Mark Alleyne will be hoping that one of his teams can win in 2026. The wonderfully named Will Williams will be looking to continue his good form of the Lancashire game.
Derbyshire will be strong on their home turf. Run machine Wayne Madsen returns to a batting line up which has strength in depth. Martin Andersson, signed from Middlesex, leads the way but Australian Caleb Jewell and Aneurin Donald also present danger. Gabe Bell will be looking forward to his battle with his fellow Tasmanian, Jewell. Brooke Guest is also a decent player. As for the bowling then Zak Chappell will be looking to get one over on his teammates. Chappell was on loan in 2022 and 2023, when he was christened Zaques Chapelle, after his shirt came back from the printers with one p in his surname.
With the weather set fine, this is a chance for Gloucestershire to kick star their season.
