Gloucestershire v Lancashire Post Match

Lancashire won the toss under a dark and leaden sky, and promptly asked Gloucestershire to have a bat. Cameron Bancroft and Ben Charlesworth combined well and had largely seen off the new ball until Bancroft dropped a James Anderson delivery barely off the pitch toward cover and attempted a questionable single. Charlesworth rightly sent his skipper back and Bancroft couldn’t make his ground to Josh Bohannon’s direct hit. Gloucestershire 22-1. Ollie Price joined Charlesworth and after a watchful start, they pushed the score to 80 when Balderson, in the last over before lunch, beat Price’s defences and pushed back his off-stump. Given Gloucestershire’s recent batting travails, 80-2 at lunch was seen as something of an improvement and the faithful were certainly hopeful of more runs in the afternoon session.
