Well it has been a pretty miserable year in BS7 so far. Currently 39 points adrift at the foot of the table, the short form format cannot come round quickly enough.
So what are our chances? The bookies don’t seem to think much as they have us at 33-1 despite us winning the tournament in 2024.
The news over the last few days that Liam Scott will be with Australia for the first half, was multiplied with the fact that David Payne will miss the entire tournament after having ankle surgery picked up in the Indian Premier League. Two quality players and I would suggest that Payne is one of the finest in the country with a white ball in his hand. At the beginning in the Powerplay and using his box of tricks at the back end of an innings, there is no doubt that this Poole Prince will be missed.
