Ben Charlesworth joins Lancashire at the end of the season

On Thursday 23rd April, Lancashire Cricket confirmed they had signed Ben Charlesworth from Gloucestershire on a three year deal, effective from November 1st 2026. So there it is. Voilà! The weeks of speculation since Charlesworth announced (on the eve of the new season), his intention to leave, can now end
As a Gloucestershire fan, the announcement of Charlesworth’s departure has briefly given me cause to reflect sadly on this news. Along with his now imminent departure is the realisation that this is yet another in the line of fine, young, cricketing talent, forged in the crucible of the Gloucestershire Cricket Pathway, that have left the county that made them. Charlesworth adds his name with Tom Price, Dom Goodman, Archie Bailey, Zaman Akhter, Josh Shaw, and, soon to be his new county colleague at Old Trafford, Ajeet Singh Dale, to find the way out of Nevil Road. Perhaps it is time for the club to take down every exit sign at the stadium. How else can we keep our homegrown talent?
